Frequently asked questions about our services
Our work has been known to trigger quite a bit of neighborhood chatter. The best way to deal with envy is to smile, wish them a great day, and (if you don’t mind sharing the spotlight) pass along our business card.
Experts recommend that a homeowner spend between 1% and 3% of the value of the home on lighting. We have customers who spend much more, and much less on their projects. Every project is unique but this rule of thumb is a great place to start if you are curious.
Like any electrical system, landscape lighting requires maintenance to stay in perfect working order. Trees and bushes grow and change, fixtures get bumped by dogs or kids. Every spring, we contact our customers to offer our annual maintenance tune up. We will inspect each fixture, clean the lenses, adjust the angles, and make sure it looks perfect at night.
We get many calls from customers who have older systems that are in a state of disrepair. We will inspect your system for free and determine whether we recommend a repair or a total system upgrade. Switching from halogen to LED can save significantly on energy costs over time.
Voltage is what makes electrical charge move. Most homes run off of 120 volt electrical systems. Low voltage lighting requires much less power (only 12 volts). We use a small box called a transformer to convert the voltage down. Because we are working with low voltage, landscape lighting professionals do not need to be licensed electricians.
